Italy, the name alone is recognized around the world. Pick any location and its a "win win" situation for any traveler going to Italy. I have had the pleasure to visit Rome and Verona but the majestic experience I had was in the Italian Alps, the Dolomites. They are located in the Northern part of Italy and form a part of the Southern Limestone Alps.
During the first World War the front lines of Italy and Austro-Hungary forces ran minefields on either side, they cleared paths to climb thru the minefields and it was accomplished by a Via Ferrata line (iron path).
I arrived to Bolzano, Italy via the rail (train) from Munich, Germany then drove to Val Gardena, the town of Ortesi located in the South Tyrol. I explored the areas by hiking, taking ski lifts to new locations, driving the winding roads, and a wonderful helicopter tour of 45 minutes flying over the Alps.
Hiking;
The food and scenery are exquisite, welcome to the Italian Dolomites
Lago di Braies is a true gem in the Dolomites, a popular location with lovely routes to walk around the lake, rent a boat, and spend a day absorbing the moments.

Bonus: See my story on the Walkers Haute Route. I learned of Otzi the Iceman who is on display in Bolzano, Italy.
Much appreciation, thanks for sharing your comments and giving the feedback. All the best
You hit the nail on the head, there’s no wrong way to explore Italy. My wife and I were able to visit last September (just in time!). After watching your initial videos, the Dolomites were high on my list, but we ended up staying in Tuscany, Ischia, and Venice- so I’ll have to make the mountains part of Round 2.
Thanks for sharing!
