Horseback Trek in Nepal (Kathmandu)

Updated: Apr 25, 2020

I set off with a group from Dubai (Trek Up Dubai) in 2014 for the beautiful country of Nepal. It was a horseback trek thru numerous villages of Kathmandu, to the far outskirts and the base of the Himalayas. When we arrived our luggage didn't so we rode for Eight hours the first day (horseback) wearing the outfits from our flight.

We were concerned with the condition of our horses after that first day so we had a team meeting to alter our plan for the next few days to give the horses the proper care. The local horse master agreed.

We substituted our time with local hikes, shorter horseback rides, and boarded the Yeti Airline flight giving us a 45 minute tour parallel to the Himalayas and ultimately to view Mt Everest. The flight was window seats only, each passenger was escorted into the cockpit to have a straight on view as we flew to Mt Everest. I felt like I could reach out and touch it.

The local cuisine favorite of Nepal "Mo Mo's" (dumpling) became my favorite thing to consume.

We visited Hindu temples, the monkey temple in Kathmandu along with local features to include a living goddess who made her presence in a window during our stay.

Bonus: Kathmandu Nepal
